We are located in Playa Santa Teresa, on the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Ocean. Located next to Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve. The Nicoya Peninsula is designated as one of the worlds five Blue Zones, a region where people live longer than average and have a lower rate of chronic diseases.

There are two main airports, San Jose International and Liberia International, we recommend flying in and out of San Jose. The shuttle ride from San Jose includes a ferry ride to the Nicoya Peninsula. It is also very convenient to fly into Cobano Airport from San Jose, 20 minutes away from the camp on a 25 minute puddle jumper. Sansa and Green Airways both provide this service.

Included is a shared mini van shuttle from San Jose and Liberia airports, or a taxi from the Cobano airport. Please contact the shuttle companies directly and make arrangements, we will reimburse you after arrival. Its important to make sure your plane arrives with plenty of time to make the shuttle they will not wait. Tropical Tours is the most popular shuttle company.

The 12 lessons in Shaun Tomson’s Surfer’s Code are a blend of wisdom from surfing and life principles. These lessons are simple yet powerful, focusing on personal responsibility, respect for others, and perseverance. Here they are:

  1. I will never turn my back on the ocean – This speaks to both literal and metaphorical respect for nature and life’s challenges.
  2. I will paddle around the impact zone – Avoid the shortcut and face challenges head-on.
  3. I will take the drop with commitment – Commit fully to whatever you choose to do, no hesitation.
  4. I will never fight a rip tide – Don’t fight the uncontrollable, adapt and flow with it.
  5. I will always paddle back out – Even after setbacks, you must return to try again.
  6. I will watch out for other surfers – Be mindful of others, offering help and support when needed.
  7. There will always be another wave – There are always more opportunities; don’t dwell on the ones you miss.
  8. I will ride and not paddle in to shore – Follow through on your journey until the end, no shortcuts.
  9. I will pass along my stoke – Share your passion and joy with others.
  10. I will catch a wave every day, even in my mind – Stay motivated and find daily inspiration, even in small ways.
  11. I will realize that all surfers are connected by one ocean – A reminder that we’re all interconnected, fostering community and shared responsibility.
  12. I will honor the sport of kings – Respect the heritage and culture of surfing, as well as whatever pursuit you engage in.

Shaun Tomson crafted these lessons from his experiences both in surfing and in life, emphasizing perseverance, community, and respect—principles that can resonate with anyone living sober.
